Sometimes you come across something special that leaves an impact. The gnarly old bush vines that bear the precious fruit that go to make this delicious wine were planted up to 100 years ago in the mountain vineyards of Atea. Struggling to survive in dusty, dry slate soils at an altitude of 1000 metres they have the ability to produce this amazing wine: deep blue-purple colour. Lifted perfumed aromas of flowers and fresh blueberry. Lush blackberry and cherry flavours cram the mid palate with an underlying spicy pepperiness. Weighty without being overbearing it delivers a punch of juiciness that will leave your palate stunned!

The Merlot fruit was harvested at optimum ripeness in the cool of the night to preserve the delicate fruit flavours. On the palate, attractive and complex red berry flavours combine with rich, silky tannins on the finish.

For the sea-beaten people who made it ashore, a new world awaited. As pioneers in a harsh frontier colony, they forged fresh pathways and built new lives from their chequered pasts, brick by brick. This wine honours the history they wrote and the culture they built.

Winemaker's Notes: A deep plum red Cabernet Sauvignon with aromas of red fruit, cassis, black plums, and soft spices, together with a fruity structured palate. Food Pairing: This is the perfect wine to serve with strong cheeses, hearty stews and grilled cuts of beef.

Nugan Estate Scruffy's Shiraz (75 cl), €10.00

Scruffy works hard to keep our Shiraz bunches tight and our berries small and yields very low at around 4 tons per acre, which annoys our accountant. Daren Owers, our winemaker, insists on bunch sorting at harvest to make sure we only use the very best clusters. Most of the fruit is destemmed and pressed while a small portion is whole berry fermented. All parcels are kept separate during the winemaking process in our state of the art winery. We use a lot of smaller tanks as a result which is difficult, but necessary for the production of a quality wine. Pump overs and extended maceration times give us color and richness. We work with the best coopers and use a combination of French and American oak to mature this wine - 25% of which is new. Bench blending takes forever - there are so many variables and we return the final cuvee to tank for several months to come together before bottling. It's a lot of work and we really hope you enjoy the result. PS - This wine was sustainably farmed and produced in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint.

Lucky Rooster Red (75 cl), €8.00

The wine is produced in Portugal's Peninsula de Setúbal, a warm maritime coastal region south of Lisbon, where the grapes are harvested during the least hot periods of the day, arriving to the winery fresh and intact. The grapes are then chosen and distributed according to the characteristics that the winemaking team. Desires. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats after a long period of pellicular maceration. Tasting Notes Dark red colour. On that fateful night in 1814, these forces of liberty found refuge in the estate cellars. Today, within these same cellars, our award-winning 120 wines are crafted to honor their heroic character. Our 120 Cabernet Sauvignon is medium-bodied with rich aromas of berries, clove and vanilla. On the palate, it delivers fine concentration with flavors of ripe black fruit and earthy undertones.
