Description

Mead is the world's oldest alcoholic drink, fermented from honey and water is being made anew in the heart of Kinsale in Ireland's first new meadery in many years. Mead has a long and rich history in Ireland. Delicious and refreshing, it was the drink of choice in the Halls of the High Kings and Abbeys as well as at farmhouse tables for feast days and weddings. Honey bees were a precious resource and protected under the Bechbreatha or Bee Judgements, a subset of our Brehon Laws. We are a family run business in Kinsale. Our award-winning meads are light, refreshing and off dry and handmade in small batches from carefully sourced natural ingredients. Wild Red Mead A melomel style mead where the raw forest honey is fermented with fruit. Packed full of flavour it balances the tartness of Irish Wexford blackcurrants with sweet, dark cherries. Enjoy on its own at room temperature or a splash of sparkling wine. Try mulling with winter spices. Off dry, 12% ABV. Atlantic Dry Mead Carefully sourced raw Spanish orange blossom honey gives this traditional style mead its lovely citrus, floral aroma and flavour. Long lingering hints of honey with almost no sweetness. Enjoy chilled and naked over ice or serve with tonic and an orange slice. Off dry, 12% ABV. Hazy Summer Mead Raw honey muddled with a tumble of Irish summer berries. Juicy strawberries and raspberries upfront luscious blackberries, blackcurrants, cherries and blueberries with subtle honey notes. Serve at room temperature or over a tumbler of frozen berries. Off dry, 11% ABV.
