Niel Joubert Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (75 cl), €17.00

The Reserve Collection Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting Note: The bouquet leads with rich dark fruits, followed by savory and roasted coffee. It has velvety tannins and its excellent balance between tannins, acidity and fruitiness shows finesse. This full-bodied wine finishes with lingering dark chocolate and savory flavors. 100% Matured in New French Oak 225litre barrels for 72 months. Niel Joubert Reserve Chenin Blanc (75 cl), €17.00

Winemaking After de-stalking and crushing, the juice was allowed to settle and then transferred to new 400L French oak barrels for primary- and malolactic fermentation. The wine was left in barrel on the fine lees for 16 months (with regular batonage to enhance the mouthfeel) after which it was racked and returned to barrel for a further 12 months barrel ageing. Tasting Notes Expressive aromas of yellow apple, quince, kumquat, dried pineapple, and a touch of oak spice. The palate has an excellent balance of fruit and oak, with bright acidity adding freshness and backbone. The wine has a creamy, rounded mouthfeel and a satisfying finish with yellow citrus and stone fruit flavours. A complex, food-friendly wine that will facilitate further bottle ageing for 5-6 years from vintage.

Tasting Notes: Deep garnet in color with a prominent bouquet of coffee, oak and sweet spice. The wine is flavorful and complex with layers of blackberry, oak and spice cascading on the palate. Full-bodied, polished and expertly balanced with velvety tannins and great length.75% Matured in New French and Hungarian Oak barrels. 25% Matured in older French Oak barrels for 60 months.

Nugan Estate Scruffy's Shiraz (75 cl), €12.99

Scruffy works hard to keep our Shiraz bunches tight and our berries small and yields very low at around 4 tons per acre, which annoys our accountant. Daren Owers, our winemaker, insists on bunch sorting at harvest to make sure we only use the very best clusters. Most of the fruit is destemmed and pressed while a small portion is whole berry fermented. All parcels are kept separate during the winemaking process in our state of the art winery. We use a lot of smaller tanks as a result which is difficult, but necessary for the production of a quality wine. Pump overs and extended maceration times give us color and richness. We work with the best coopers and use a combination of French and American oak to mature this wine - 25% of which is new. Bench blending takes forever - there are so many variables and we return the final cuvee to tank for several months to come together before bottling. It's a lot of work and we really hope you enjoy the result. PS - This wine was sustainably farmed and produced in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint.

An ageing process of 24 months in American and French oak barrels and 12 months in bottle help this wine blossom and conquer the most demanding palates. Wine of great personality with a very appealing and covered cherry red color. It is intense on the nose, excelling the ripe fruit, spices and cocoa aromas from its stay in oak barrel for 36 months. On the palate it is a structured wine, with vivid and well assembled tannins. Long aftertaste, highlighting his round and elegant finish. Great with red meat, game dishes, roasted lamb, vegetables, meats and cheeses.
