Preparation & Usage
Preparation: 1. Add 125 g Obento Tempura Batter Mix to 180 mL of cold water and whisk through, do not over mix. 2. Coat your choice of ingredient in the batter and deep fry in hot oil (150°C-180°C) until golden brown. Deep-Fried Prawn (Prawn Tempura) Serves: 1-2 1. Straighten 6 shelled and deveined prawns with a sharp knife. Slice a slit along the stomach lengthways. Place on chopping board, stomach side down and using your fingers, press the back to snap the back muscle and stretch the prawn straight. 2. Combine 100 g Obento Tempura Mix and 170 g soda / sparkling water and mix well. 3. Combine 30 mL Japanese soy sauce, 30 mL Obento Mirin Seasoning and 120 mL instant dashi stock in a pot and bring to boil. 4. Heat vegetable oil to 175°C in a deep-frying pan. 5. Lightly coat the prawn with extra Obento Tempura Batter Mix, then dunk in the batter till well coated. Straight fry in the heated oil until cooked through and drain excess oil. 6. Repeat the process for the rest of ingredients. Serve with dipping sauce.
