Chateau Haut Bertinerie Red (75 cl), €15.00
60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon (Old Vines)
Bertinerie Estate is located in Blaye district, part of the famous ''Cotes of Bordeaux'' AOC appellation. Owned by the same family for the last 2 centuries, this 75 ha estate has been steadily expanded by Eric and Frantz Bantegnies. They have during the last 20 years, consolidating the château's reputation for producing the appellation's foremost wines.
This exceptional ''terroir cuvée'' is produced from a selection of the oldest vineyards. All the grapes are hand picked and sorted. After a total de-stemming, the long maceration during the vinification is performed under careful temperature control to bring out the best parts of the tannins potential. The wine h as been aged in new French casks for 12 months long in the underground cellars of the Château.
Wine makers comments: Deep colour, aromas of blackberries and hints of spice. The ageing has given elegance to its rich and tannic structure. Fine and soft with smooth, well integrated tannins on the palate, this full bodied wine deserves its place alongside any Bordeaux Grand Cru.
