"Years ago, when I was just starting out as a winemaker, it was almost unheard of to get French oak wine barrels and American oak barrels were for whiskey, not wine. But we still needed barrels to age our wine, so we purchased new and used bourbon barrels. Today, American and French oak wine barrels are commonplace, so the inspiration for 1000 Stories is a nod to the way things were. We've selected new and used bourbon barrels for these small batches of Zinfandel, which impart characteristics specific to these barrels: charred vanilla, dried herbs and a hint of caramel." A Winter's Tale Amontillado Sherry (75 cl), €15.50

A distinctive blend of our finest sherries from palomino grapes, aged in old oak casks. Old gold in colour. The bouquet is a pleasant mix of nuts and "Flor" with slightly woody touch. It is smooth, rounded and full on the palate.

Alterra Special Reserve Chardonnay (75 cl), €7.99

Aconcagua Valley Alterra wines harness the intensity and flavours of Andes Mountain grapes, producing distinctive wines with varietal characteristics and superb ripeness. This wine was oak-fermented and then barrel-aged for only 3 months. Mixing notes of pear and pineapple with toasted hazelnut, it has a rich texture and a long finish marked by vanilla and mineral notes. Natural spring water from the magnificent Andes Mountains flows through the valley to our vineyard, where "Altitude" and "Terroir" combine to create Alterra sun-filled wines.

Aresti Mystique Mystery Two Reserva Carignan (75 cl), €10.00

Vinification The grapes were harvested in late March, crushed, and fermented at 26°C for 7 days, with a total of 12 days of skin contact. Afterward, the grapes were pressed. Malolactic fermentation took place in French and American oak barrels, where they continue to evolve and gain complexity during a 12-month aging period. Tasting Notes Intensely ruby red Carignan, offering complex notes of black fruits, earthy nuances, and delicate floral hints. Full-bodied with firm tannins, it boasts a long, persistent finish with echoes of chocolate and coffee.
