The wine region of Stellenbosch is situated 50km east of Capetown. It is home to the historic town of Stellenbosch (which dates back to 1679) and the world famous University of Stellenbosch. This region is the second oldest wine region in South Africa and is set in the heart of the Cape Winelands. A warm and dry growing season and a variety of soils results in the production of high-quality wines, mostly reds. Cabernet Sauvignon performs exceptionally well here. Our Eden Lodge Cabernet Sauvignon is vibrant dark purple/ruby in colour with a rich ripe berry nose. Flavours of autumnal fruits follow along with hints of dark chocolate and spicy tones. Paarl enjoys a warm climate with a Mediterranean influence and has a mix of sandy, granite and shale soils. These factors coupled with the aspect of the Simonsberg Mountain provide great growing conditions for the Shiraz grape. This results in wines of great individuality and character.
