It is made with the varieties Tempranillo and Graciano from vines over 15 years old. The picking is made by hand and it is aged for 24 months in American-oak barrels. It's got a balsamic aroma with notes of ripe fruit. In the mouth it's fresh, light and persistent with soft and round tannins. This wine matches with ham, mature cheeses, stew with not very spicy sauces, cooked or boiled legumes, poultry, red meat and all kind of roast and grilled meat.

In 1770, a group of monks broke the rules of their Order and was exiled to this harsh, rugged region to carry out penance. They soon discovered that the area was perfect for winegrowing and set out to make a wine that would return them to heaven's good graces. They succeeded, or so it seemed. Every year wine inexplicable vanished from the barrels, leaving them half empty. The monks believed that this was how the angels made them pay for their sins. We have now brought back these old Mediterranean varieties to produce Purgatori, which recalls the legend of the angels' wine.

The Chardonnay grapes are harvested early in the morning while they are still cool. This Chardonnay is in its purest form, unoaked and allowed to express itself as the classic grape it is. The result is a full-bodied wine with aromas of rich tropical fruit. The palate is lively and round with fresh apple, citrus and pear flavours in abundance, giving a crisp medium dry finish. Great all around wine, superb on its own or perfect with creamy pasta dishes. Serve well chilled as an aperitif. Enjoy.

The Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are harvested from the best slopes in the vineyards. They then undergo temperature controlled fermentation to preserve the pure fruit character. The wine, once fermented spends some time in oak barrels to add complexity and character to the final wine. The result is a rich full bodied wine with aromas of blackberries, chocolate and spice. The palate is full and round with ripe soft tannins, autumnal fruit, cassis and spicy oak. This is a great all round wine, superb on it own and a great match for traditional roast, tomato based pasta dishes and steak. Enjoy!
