The gnarly old bush vines that bear the precious fruit that go to make this delicious wine were planted up to 100 years ago in the mountain vineyards of Atea. Struggling to survive in dusty, dry slate soils at an altitude of 1000 metres they have the ability to produce this amazing wine: deep blue-purple colour. Lifted perfumed aromas of flowers and fresh blueberry. Lush blackberry and cherry flavours cram the mid palate with an underlying spicy pepperiness. Weighty without being overbearing it delivers a punch of juiciness that will leave your palate stunned!

Alterra wines harness the intensity and flavours of Andes Mountain grapes, producing distinctive wines with varietal characteristics and superb ripeness. Rich texture with ripe cherry and berry aromas, and subtle smoky tones. Rounded in oak for 6 months, this wine has soft and integrated tannins and a pleasant finish marked by red fruits. Natural spring water from the magnificent Andes Mountains flows through the valley to our vineyard, where ''Altitude'' and ''Terroir'' combine to create Alterra sun-filled wines.

Willow Hill Shiraz Cabernet (75 cl), €8.59

The Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are harvested from the best slopes in the vineyards. They then undergo temperature controlled fermentation to preserve the pure fruit character. The wine, once fermented spends some time in oak barrels to add complexity and character to the final wine. The result is a rich full bodied wine with aromas of blackberries, chocolate and spice. The palate is full and round with ripe soft tannins, autumnal fruit, cassis and spicy oak. This is a great all round wine, superb on it own and a great match for traditional roast, tomato based pasta dishes and steak. Enjoy!
