In the course of the 4th Century AD, the emergence of the vineyard was intrinsically connected to the founding of the monastry of Marmoutier in 372 AD by Saint Martin. The vineyard grew and acquired its repute through its dedication to white wines. Foucher Lebrun has selected for your enjoyment this 100% Chenin semi-sweet vouvray, with aromas of pear and apricot. Vinification The grapes were harvested in late March, crushed, and fermented at 26°C for 7 days, with a total of 12 days of skin contact. Afterward, the grapes were pressed. Malolactic fermentation took place in French and American oak barrels, where they continue to evolve and gain complexity during a 12-month aging period. Tasting Notes Intensely ruby red Carignan, offering complex notes of black fruits, earthy nuances, and delicate floral hints. Full-bodied with firm tannins, it boasts a long, persistent finish with echoes of chocolate and coffee.

Since 1912 the Osborn family have tended vineyards in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Today fourth generation family member Chester makes distinctive wines using traditional methods both in the vineyard and the winery. Small batches of grapes are crushed gently and then transferred to open fermenters. Foot treading is undertaken two thirds of the way through fermentation, the wine is basket pressed and transferred to old French oak to complete fermentation and mature for 12 to 21 months. First released in 1969, this wine was renamed d'Arry's Original in 1993, in honour of third generation family member Francis d'Arenberg Osborn, universally known as d'Arry, to honour his lifelong services to the wine industry.

Small batches of grapes are crushed gently, chilled, and then basket pressed. To add complexity and mouthfeel a small percentage of Viognier and Marsanne is fermented and matured in French oak for eight months. Many of McLaren Vale's vineyards are underlain with limestone formed by calcareous remains of local marine fauna, such as hermit crabs. 'Hermit' is also an abbreviation for the French appellation where the Marsanne variety dominates, an appropriate name for McLaren Vale's first ever blend of these varieties.
