In 19th century Languedoc, most of the work done in the vineyards was undertaken by women. Nevertheless, female workers were often underpaid and mistreated. Local legend speaks of a woman who stood up and challenged this exploitation; Sophie Valrose. Inspired by her story, the Sophie Valrose range by Bijou is a tribute to her memory. This crisp and aromatic Sauvignon Blanc is produced with grapes picked from low-yielding bush vines, alike those Sophie harvested many years ago.
