These baked pears make an elegant starter that can be ready in minutes. The salty cheese is so good with the seasonal pears and hot honey.

2 tbsp Honey
½ tsp Hot sauce
3 Pears, ripe but not too soft
6 Sprigs thyme
3 tbsp Gorgonzola or blue cheese
12 Toasted pecan nuts, roughly chopped
Black pepper
Seasonal salad leaves
Olive oil
Balsamic vinegar

- 2 tbsp Honey
- ½ tsp Hot sauce
- 3 Pears, ripe but not too soft
- 6 Sprigs thyme
- 3 tbsp Gorgonzola or blue cheese
- 12 Toasted pecan nuts, roughly chopped
- Black pepper
- Seasonal salad leaves
- Olive oil
- Balsamic vinegar
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Mix the hot sauce with the honey and set aside.
- Cut the pears in half and scoop out the seeds.
- Place the halves cut side in a baking dish and drizzle with the hot honey.
- Scatter with thyme leaves and bake for 10 minutes.
- Place a teaspoon of gorgonzola into each one. Scatter with the chopped pecan nuts. Drizzle with a little more honey and black pepper.
- Serve warm on a bed of seasonal leaves dressed with a little balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
